About Six Barrel Soda Co.
Pals since the 90s, Joe & Mike have shared years of questionable fashion choices and ridiculous business plans. After some dodgy batches and accidental fermentation we perfected our syrups for cocktails and sodas in our Wellington dive bar. In 2012 we started Six Barrel Soda Co., with a lofty mission to shake up a flat soft drink market with experimental flavours and a new level of quality.
We fired up a 10L pot and used a beat-up soda stream to make drinks in our soda store, to show what we believe soda can be. Our early brave customers liked it and now our soda syrups and bottled sodas are being used to make wonderful drinks all over the place, by the best soda jerks, the most creative cafes, restaurants and bars and home soda fans looking for something different.
Nowadays we’re still hand-making our soda syrups from scratch, with our small team, right here on Luke’s Lane in Wellington, New Zealand - with natural ingredients, fresh fruit, organic fair trade cane sugar and filtered water.
The rest of the World is catching on too, with our syrups and sodas now being enjoyed in Australia, the United States, Hong Kong, Canada, and more coming soon…
The Good Stuff
We’re an independent Wellington company, owned and run by real regular folk. We’re even still owned by our original founders, Joe and Mike.
We’re big on flexible working and have paid our team at least a living wage for a while now – we even made it official in July 2020, with Living Wage Accreditation.
We use real ingredients and no fake or nasty stuff in our drinks. Our sugar is fair trade organic cane, and the rest is local, organic and ethical. We bottle in glass and make sure everything possible is recycled and composted along the way.
Since each bottle of syrup makes 15 drinks, hopefully we can help you do a little better too – saving 15 plastic bottles every time you grab one. Plus once you’re done, give the bottle a wash and recycle or re-use.
Our soda syrup range is designed to be mixed with soda or sparkling water, to make fancy sodas, cocktails and mocktails. You can use water from your Aarke Carbonator or at-home sparkling water maker, or your favourite sparkling water.
Mix 1 part syrup to 5 parts soda or sparkling water. Each bottle will make you around 15 drinks, but you can measure to taste if you like a little more or less flavour. Don’t be afraid to get creative with garnish and toppings, or add a scoop of ice-cream for the best soda float ever.
The range covers 12 classic and creative flavours, and each season we also release a unique Limited Edition flavour to celebrate what’s fresh. On top of that, we have a fun range of collab flavours we make along with some of our mates.
